Trump Would Have a Job in a Cruz Administration

Ted Cruz has announced that if he is elected president, he will put Donald Trump in charge of trade and immigration.

The Texas senator, who is surging in polls of Republican primary voters, told Breitbart News that he would take advantage of the real-estate tycoon’s skills to make trade agreements. “There is no doubt that Donald Trump would be a tremendously effective negotiator to help open up foreign markets,” Cruz said.

The candidate continued: “There is no doubt that Donald Trump would be a phenomenal negotiator with China, and if you look at TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership), I have come out against TPP. It is an incredibly long and complicated mess of a bill. It has more pages than the Gang of Eight amnesty bill and Obamacare combined. And I support free trade, but free trade that benefits American workers; that opens up foreign markets to our products, to our agriculture, to our goods and services.”

Breitbart noted that last week, Cruz told radio host Jeffrey Kuhner that would hire Trump to plan the construction of a wall along the Mexican border.

At a news conference, the senator explained why he has not joined other Republicans in criticizing Trump’s controversial proposals, like barring Muslims from immigrating to the United States. “I continue to like and respect Donald Trump,” he said. “While other candidates in this race have gone out of their way to throw rocks at him, to insult him, I have consistently declined to do so and I have no intention of changing that now.”
