Trump Vows to Win Despite GOP Establishment’s Opposition

Mainstream Republicans “are all against me,” Donald Trump acknowledges in a newly produced online campaign commercial, according to The Hill.

“The establishment, the media, the special interests, the lobbyists, the donors … they are really trying to stop me,” the leading contender for the GOP presidential nomination says in the advertisement. “Everybody knows it, everybody sees it. We’re going to win. We’re going to win it for the people. We’re going to win it for the country. We’re going to make America great again.”

Claiming that he cannot be influenced by rich donors because of his personal wealth, the billionaire businessman proclaims: “I’m self-funding my campaign. I don’t owe anybody anything. I only owe it to the American people to do a great job.” Actually, Trump is financing only a portion of the expenses of his White House bid. He also receives contributions, as well as a considerable amount of free media coverage.

Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz are engaged in a close race in Iowa, the site of the first vote in the nominating process Monday night. The Hill reported that in a Fox News survey released Saturday, Trump led the senator by 11 percentage points overall in the state. The margin was just five points in a CBS News poll announced the same day.
