Trump Threatens To Bar NY Times From Covering His Campaign

After The New York Times reported that Republican leaders are “failing” to “save (Donald) Trump from himself,” the GOP presidential nominee insisted that he has no intention of changing his inflammatory rhetoric.

According to Newsmax, Trump suggested on Saturday that he might ban Times reporters from his campaign rallies in retaliation for the article. He has already revoked the press credentials of several other major news outlets. The following day, the billionaire real-estate developer tweeted: “The failing @nytimes talks about anonymous sources and meetings that never happened. Their reporting is fiction. The media protects Hillary!”

Trump followed up with another tweet, stating: “The failing @nytimes, which never spoke to me, keeps saying that I am saying to advisers that I will change. False, I am who I am-never said.” Then came a third message from the candidate. “If the disgusting and corrupt media covered me honestly and didn’t put false meaning into the words I say, I would be beating Hillary by 20 percent,” he wrote.

Trump was not finished. He returned to Twitter later on Sunday to declare: “My rallies are not covered properly by the media. They never discuss the real message and never show crowd size or enthusiasm.”

During his speech at a campaign rally in Connecticut on Saturday, Trump told the crowd: “The newspaper's going to hell. They’ve got a couple of reporters in that newspaper who are so bad — I mean lack of talent. But it’s going to hell. So, I think maybe what we’ll do, maybe we’ll start thinking about taking their press credentials away from them. Maybe we’ll do that. I think so. I think so. When they write dishonest stories, we should be a little bit tough, don’t we agree?”
