Trump Tells Kelly He’s Just A ‘Messenger’ For The People

Donald Trump on Tuesday called himself a “messenger” who represents “disenfranchised” voters, The Hill reported.

During an interview on Fox News, program host Megyn Kelly told the presumptive Republican presidential nominee that he has become “so powerful now.” Trump responded: “I don’t view myself as that. I mean, I view myself as a person that, like everybody else, is fighting for survival. That’s all I view myself as, and I really view myself now as somewhat of a messenger.”

Referring to his success on the campaign trail, the billionaire real-estate developer added: “You know, this is a massive thing that’s going on. These are millions and millions of people that have been disenfranchised from this country.”

Kelly replied: “It’s true, but they’re listening to you and they’re taking their cue from you. So that’s the question, whether now, so close to the Oval Office, whether you will take that responsibility seriously and change your tone to try to be more unifying and less divisive.”

Trump has pledged to “act more presidential” if he captures the GOP nomination at the party’s national convention in July. The candidate promises to scale back his controversial rhetoric, which many consider sexist and bigoted. His frequent attacks on Kelly have included a suggestion that she had “blood coming out of her wherever” when she challenged him during a Fox-sponsored debate last year.
