Trump Staffers Post Messages Criticizing Muslims

Donald Trump has hired multiple campaign aides who express anti-Muslim sentiments online, according to The Associated Press.

Some of the staffers have written that Muslims should not be allowed to become U.S. citizens. They also have mocked Mexican accents and suggested that Secretary of State John Kerry should be executed, the news agency discovered when it searched social-media postings by more than 50 of the campaign’s current and former employees.

At least seven of the aides wrote messages “that were overtly racially charged, supportive of violent actions or broadly hostile to Muslims,” the AP alleged. A graphic designer for the Republican presidential nominee’s advance team approved the posting of a video showing an African American man eating fried chicken while calling other blacks ignorant and irresponsible for having too many children.

One of Trump’s organizers in Virginia claimed that Muslims were trying to enact Sharia law in the United States. The staffer wrote that “those who understand Islam for what it is are gearing up for the fight.”

The postings are not likely to help Trump’s effort to reach out to Latinos. He has recently held rallies in Hispanic communities, urging the voters to back his White House bid and asking them, “What do you have to lose?”

However, many Latinos will never forget Trump’s proposal to deport all of the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States. He also has called Mexican immigrants “criminals,” “killers” and “rapists.”
