Trump Secret Service Caught Taking Selfies With Sleeping First Family, Investigation Ensues

The Secret Service's job is to protect U.S. presidents and their families, but also to be as unobtrusive as possible. When Eric Trump Jr. got wind that a couple of Secret Service agents snapped selfies with his sleeping son, he reported their actions and the matter is being investigated.

Donald Trump III, son of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump, was in the care of the two agents. The 8-year-old fell asleep in the back of the car while they drove him to Manhattan. The two agents began snapping selfies of the sleeping child.

The young boy woke up and was startled by what was going on around him. The frightened child told his father about the incident, and Trump Jr. reported the two agents to a Secret Service manager. The manager ordered the agents to go to the Secret Service Office of Professional Responsibility in Washington, D.C. where the incident is now being investigated.

“The US Secret Service is aware of a matter involving two of our agents and one of our protectees," the agency said in a statement. "Our Office of Professional Responsibility will always thoroughly review a matter to determine the facts and to ensure proper, long-standing protocols and procedures are followed. The Secret Service would caution individuals to not jump to conclusions that may grossly mischaracterize the matter.”

The Secret Service has had its share of scandals. One agent was suspended when she wrote on social media that she would probably not be willing to take a bullet for President Donald Trump. During Mr. Obama's terms, an intruder jumped the fence and made it up to the White House without interference. The president was in the White House at the time.

In this incident, however, the agents didn't just drop the ball; they made a conscious choice to violate the privacy of a member of the president's family-- a minor. This egregious error may prove costly for them.
