Trump Says Obama ‘Doesn’t Want to Get Rid of’ Terrorism

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Monday accused President Obama of failing to adequately address the threat violent extremist groups pose to the United States, The Hill reported.

During a radio interview with conservative commentator Michael Savage, the New York City billionaire declared: “It’s radical Islamic terrorism. We have a president that won’t even use the words. And if you don’t use the words, you’re never gonna get rid of the problem. Maybe he doesn’t want to get rid of the problem. I don’t know exactly what’s going on.”

Trump’s comments echoed those of several other GOP White House hopefuls who have also slammed Obama for declining to use the term “Islamic terrorism.” The president, as well as Hillary Clinton, argue that the reference to religion insults the vast majority of Muslims who are not waging jihad.

The Hill noted that Trump, who frequently blasts Obama for allegedly being weak on the issue, has vowed to be more “militaristic” if he wins this year’s election. He was one of the leaders of the “birther” movement, which questioned whether the president was born in the United States.

Trump also has cast aspersions on Obama’s religious faith. Last week, when Obama spoke at a Muslim house of worship, the candidate remarked: “Maybe he feels comfortable (in a mosque).”
