Trump Says Iran Deal ‘Could Have Been So Much Better’

Donald Trump, while expressing relief that Iran has finally released the Americans it held hostage, on Monday continued criticizing the nuclear agreement that the United States and others negotiated with the Middle Eastern country.

Newsmax reported that the Republican presidential front-runner said on Fox News: “(It is) nice to have our people back, (but the Iran deal) could have been so much better.”

“They’re actually getting $150 billion and we are getting four people back,” Trump declared. He was referring to the United States and the European Union having released previously frozen Iranian assets, one of the terms of the nuclear agreement.

Trump pointed out that in the exchange of prisoners, Iran received seven of its citizens who had been held captive. “So they’re getting them and they’re going to get oil and they’re going to get a lot of other things. They get a lot of things in the deal,” the billionaire businessman said, alleging that the agreement sets a “very, very dangerous precedent.”

“They’ll start taking Americans and going to negotiate deals,” Trump predicted. “The Persians are great negotiators. They’ve proven it here, but they’re great negotiators and there was no reason for this. When we made the deal originally, we should have said we want the prisoners back, and they would have said no and we would have just gone on a little bit and we would have said that’s OK, you leave the room.”
