Trump Ridicules Romney’s ‘Choke Loss’ in 2012

Predictably, Donald Trump wasted no time in firing back at Mitt Romney after 2012 Republican presidential nominee criticized him Sunday on CNN.

Romney predicted that the bombastic billionaire will not capture next year’s GOP nomination, Newsmax reported. However, the former Massachusetts governor indicated he prefers Trump to any of the Democratic candidates. “I would vote for the nominee of the Republican party, and I don’t believe that’s going to be Donald Trump,” he told “State of the Union” host Jake Tapper.

Soon after the interview aired, Trump issued a series of tweets. “(Romney) can only speak negatively about my presidential chances because I have been openly hard on his terrible choke loss to Obama,” the businessman wrote.

In his next message, he declared that Romney “and his campaign manager should not be critical of candidates after they blew an election that should never have been lost!” Later, Trump tweeted: “I don’t need his angry advice.”

Romney is among many mainstream Republicans who fear Trump is too controversial to win next year’s general election. They prefer a moderate nominee like Jeb Bush. However, the former Florida governor lags in national polls of GOP voters, with only single-digit support. Trump is still the front-runner, though Ben Carson has been narrowing his lead in recent weeks.
