Trump Opposes Sanctions Against Russia For Hacking

Donald Trump argued Wednesday night that “we ought to get on with our lives” rather than take action against Russia for its reported attempts to hack the presidential election in favor of the Republican nominee.

The Hill reported that Trump was responding to lawmakers who are demanding sanctions against Russia, which intelligence officials have accused of attacking computers at the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign headquarters.

While opposing any sanctions, the president-elect acknowledged that “the whole age of computers has made it where nobody knows exactly what’s going on.” He told reporters: “ think the computers have complicated lives very greatly. We have speed, we have a lot of other things, but I’m not sure we have the kind of security that we need.”

Some Republicans, as well as President Obama and numerous Democratic members of Congress, are pushing for the sanctions. One of the group’s leaders is Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. “I don’t know what he’s doing. I haven’t spoken to Sen. Graham,” Trump said. “As you know, he ran against me.”

The president-elect continues to refute the CIA and FBI, which have reportedly uncovered evidence of Russian operatives meddling with U.S. officials’ emails and possibly hacking voting machines, Trump has suggested that Democrats are pursuing the issue because they refuse to accept Clinton’s defeat.
