Trump: Massacre Victims Should Have Been Armed

Fewer deaths would have resulted from Sunday morning’s shooting spree at an Orlando, Fla., nightclub if more of the people inside had been packing firearms, according to Donald Trump.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee told CNN on Monday: “If you had some guns in that club the night that this took place, if you had guns on the other side, you wouldn’t have had the tragedy that you had. If people in that room had guns, with the bullets flying in the opposite direction right at him, right at his head, you wouldn’t have had the same tragedy that you ended up having.”

The Hill reported that Trump declared the victims should have had firearms “strapped to (their) ankle or strapped to their waste.” He repeated his proposals to turn away Syrian war refugees, and increase “surveillance” and “intelligence gathering.” The Obama administration’s strategy to prevent terrorist attacks has been too “weak,” according to the real-estate tycoon.

The apparent Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, had a much different response to the nightclub massacre. “This is the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the United States, and it reminds us once more that weapons of war have no place on our streets,” she said in calling for more restrictive gun-control measures.
