Trump's Campaign Strategy Paying Off

While most political candidates would be reeling from the ridicule hurled at Donald Trump for his inflammatory rhetoric, the real-estate tycoon’s presidential campaign seems to be benefiting from all the controversy.

Opposing Views noted that Trump is not backing down from his statements about Mexico, illegal immigrants, Sen. John McCain’s war record and other matters. He refuses to apologize to those he offends or tone down his remarks.

In his speech announcing his presidential bid, Trump declared that Mexican authorities are intentionally sending murderers, rapists and drug dealers to the United States. Univision, Macy’s, NBC and other corporations severed their ties with Trump because of the remarks. However, the billionaire continues to bash immigrants.

Last weekend, Trump said McCain “is not a war hero,” eliciting howls of protest from several other GOP candidates. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio called the comment “an insult to all POWs.” He and two other presidential hopefuls, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, called on Trump to drop out of the race.

“The irony of Trump’s approach to his 2016 campaign is that all of his gaffes are actually having the opposite effect than what pundits might expect,” Opposing Views reported. “He’s leading in the polls.”
