Trump Lashes Out At His GOP Establishment Critics

Donald Trump claims the Republican establishment is “taking advantage of our country” by plotting to prevent him from becoming the party’s presidential nominee, Fox News reported.

As the billionaire businessman continues to win primaries and top national polls of GOP voters, party leaders are looking for an alternative. Trump boasted at a recent Fox News-sponsored town-hall event that he has sparked a movement “of competence and common sense and low taxes and borders, and it would be so foolish to give it away.”

The real-estate mogul pointed out that the American Enterprise Institute held a conference last weekend at Sea Island, off the Georgia coast, to formulate strategies to promote a mainstream nominee. The country’s top-ranking Republican, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, was among those who attended, according to Fox News. Other GOP members of Congress also took part in the event.

“I know all these people,” Trump said. “These are people that are taking advantage of our country. They don’t want to have strong borders. They want stuff flowing across the borders. They don’t want to have taxation when countries treat us unfairly because they benefit from that. … Politicians will do what’s right for the people that gave them the money, not what’s right for the country.”
