Trump Halts Air Force One From Taking Off For Incredible Reason

When President Donald Trump makes a perceived misstep, you can rest assured that it will be national news in seconds. The same is not true when he goes out of his way to do something awesome.

There’s plenty of reasons on why that’s the case, but the president's fractured relationship with certain mainstream media outlets is certainly at the top of the list. It’s no secret that some members of the press don’t care all that much for Trump, and the feeling is clearly mutual.

As a result, we all have to spend an ungodly amount of time sifting through a bunch of noise to determine what’s real news and what’s not. We can point plenty of fingers at both sides for allowing things to get to this point, but the fact remains that fair and balanced coverage of Trump is a pretty foreign concept these days.

It’s simply not right, and it’s leading to even more feelings of divisiveness amongst both sides of the debate over the Trump presidency. There are plenty of times when Trump does rather positive things, but they don’t register during the average news cycle. Here’s one of those things.

As AWM shares, Trump delayed Air Force One from taking off after a stop in Indiana for a rather incredible reason. He had heard that an officer had lost control of his motorcycle while escorting his motorcade, and he wasn’t going to take off until he knew if the officer was going to be alright.

Trump would get to speak with the officer, and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was kind enough to share a video of the touching moment.

“Video of injured Officer Turner speaking with President Donald J. Trump. POTUS delayed taking off from #Indy until he was assured Officer Turner was ok and he also called and spoke with the Officer. #ThankYou,” the department captioned the video.

A small gesture such as this from the President of the United States means the world to members of law enforcement, and the department wasn’t about to let this fly under the radar.

“On behalf of the IMPD, we would like to take an opportunity to thank President Donald J. Trump for his thoughtful act in delaying his departure in Air Force One until he was assured that the officer injured in the motorcade accident was ok,” the department added.

“Calls were made by his staff to Chief Bryan Roach checking on Cycle Officer Turner. President Trump even took the time to speak with Officer Turner after the accident, to check on him. Thank you for your compassion, concern, and leadership Mr. President.”

The cynics of the world will say that Trump was merely using this for a photo op, but the argument can be refuted with a simple point: positive coverage of the president is nearly nonexistent, so there’s zero chance that it would gain any attention whatsoever.

Trump is well aware of this fact, and it’s quite obvious that he could care less about it. He simply wanted to make sure that the officer was ok - and to thank him for all that he does.

There’s plenty of other examples of Trump going above and beyond to do some rather heartfelt things, but there’s nary a peep about them. Here’s to hoping that coverage of the president becomes a lot more balanced as we move towards year two of his administration.
