Trump Fires Back at ‘Pocahontas’ Elizabeth Warren

Donald Trump, responding to another scathing attack by Elizabeth Warren on Monday, called the Massachusetts senator a “racist” for claiming she has Native American ancestry.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee also told NBC News’ Hallie Jackson that the Massachusetts senator is a “total fraud,” according to The Hill. He criticized Warren’s record, accusing her of being “one of the least productive senators in the United States Senate.”

Earlier in the day, Warren labeled Trump a “small, insecure money-grubber” and a “thin-skinned bully driven by greed and hate” during her joint appearance with Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton at a campaign rally in Cincinnati, Ohio.

“We call her Pocahontas for a reason,” Trump declared. “She said she’s 5 percent Native American. She was unable to prove it. She used the fact that she was Native American to advance her career. Elizabeth Warren is a total fraud. I know it. Other people who work with her know it. Elizabeth Warren is a total fraud. She made up her heritage, which I think is racist. I think she’s a racist, actually, because what she did was very racist.”

The billionaire businessman was referring to Warren’s claim during her campaign for the Senate in 2012 that one side of her family is descended from the Cherokee tribe. Her critics allege that Harvard University employed her as a professor partly because of her heritage, though the college’s officials have said her ethnicity had nothing to do with the hiring.
