Trump: Election Protests Are 'Very Unfair'

Donald Trump declared Thursday that it is “very unfair” for voters upset about his election victory to stage public protests.

The Associated Press reported that the president-elect accused paid agitators of encouraging people to rally against him in cities throughout the country. Thousands took to the streets Wednesday and Thursday in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Kansas City, Albuquerque, Los Angeles and elsewhere.

Trump told his Twitter followers: “Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!” The AP pointed out that it was not the first time the real-estate tycoon has lashed out at news reporters, whom he has frequently called “dishonest.”

Trump also issued a tweet about his conversation with the current president at the White House on Thursday. “A fantastic day in D.C.,” he wrote. “Met with President Obama for first time. Really good meeting, great chemistry. Melania liked Mrs. O a lot!”

According to the AP, Republican donor Charles Koch warned this week that the race for the White House proved the United States is “more deeply divided than at any point in my lifetime.” Koch and his brother, David, helped raise about $250 million the past two years for GOP candidates, most of whom were running for Congress. The billionaire brothers declined to contribute to the Trump campaign.
