Trump Denies DNC Speaker’s Claim He Has ‘Sacrificed Nothing’

Donald Trump is firing back at Khizr Khan, who declared during his speech at the Democratic National Convention that the Republican presidential nominee has “sacrificed nothing.”

Khan, whose son died in Iraq in 2004 while defending his fellow soldiers, questioned Trump’s qualifications and fitness for the nation’s highest office. He suggested that the billionaire businessman has ever read the U.S. Constitution, then pulled out a pocket-sized copy of the document and offered to lend it to Trump.

Politico reported that Sunday on ABC News, the candidate responded: “I think I’ve made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard.” Trump boasted that he has created “thousands and thousands of jobs,” which prompted interviewer George Stephanopoulos to ask whether hiring people is a ‘sacrifice.’ Trump explained: “I think those are sacrifices, I think, when I can employ thousands and thousands of people, take care of their education, take care of so many things.”

The nominee said Khan “was very emotional (at the convention) and probably looked like a nice guy to me.” Regarding the naturalized immigrant’s wife, Ghazala, Trump remarked: “She had nothing to say. She probably, maybe she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say. You tell me.”

Politico noted that the previous day, Trump commented in an interview with Maureen Dowd of The New York Times that he would “like to hear (Khan’s) wife say something.”
