Trump Defends His Treatment of Women

Donald Trump was a guest of radio talk show host Charlie Sykes of WTMJ in Milwaukee on Monday. Sykes challenged Trump on comments he's made about women. Trump says he thought it was a 'dead issue.'

According to Trump, comments he's made about women in general in the past are irrelevant. He explained to Sykes that he was a celebrity and never meant the comments to be taken seriously.

"Many people, you know, Howard Stern would interview me, and everybody would be having fun and the women would be laughing," said Trump, who claims at the time he never thought about running for office.

Trump defended himself by pointing out that he's always treated women fairly in relationships and in business. Trump was hailed for putting women in executive positions in his companies back in the 80's and 90's.

Attack ads featuring some disparaging remarks Trump has made about women in his celebrity days have taken their toll on his campaign. Polls show the businessman losing women to Hillary Clinton, who herself doesn't do well with the women’s vote.

Perhaps Trump does have a point about treating women as equals-- when he goes on a rampage against someone, he doesn't seem to care whether they are a woman or a man. He's an equal-opportunity insult slinger.
