Trump Claims ‘The Only Way You Survive Is To Be Combative’

President Trump, when asked in a recent interview whether his administration is too “combative,” agreed and seemed to accept responsibility for the situation.

Trump told Time magazine: “I think it is (combative). It could be my fault. I don’t want to necessarily blame, but there’s a great meanness out there that I’m surprised at. I’d like not to be, but the only way you survive is to be combative.”

According to Newsmax, the president commented on the House of Representatives having approved the American Health Care Act, Republican-sponsored legislation reforming Obamacare. The bill was the second version of the AHCA, the first measure having failed to garner enough support to proceed with a scheduled March 24 vote in the House.

Trump bristled at the suggestion that the GOP majority had to take two stabs at passing the legislation. “There wasn’t a second attempt; there was only one attempt,” he said. “There was a mistake, was we set a date. Now had we not set that date, we would have had one time, and when we didn’t vote, everyone said, ‘Trump fails with health care.’ The thing that surprised me is, I said, ‘I’m not stopping,’ and everybody, not one person, said that was going to pass, which was sort of surprising to me.”

The president also stressed his commitment to destroying ISIS. “We have to humiliate the enemy, and if we don’t humiliate them we’re going to have our kids continuing to go and fight for ISIS,” he said. “We have kids leaving this country because they’re so damned good at the Internet. ISIS, they’re better at the Internet than Google. You know it’s a smart enemy, believe it or not.”

Regarding the challenges of the Oval Office, Trump told Time: “I find the job very natural for me. I find it’s a very big job, obviously; there’s no job big like this, no job is important like this. … I just think it’s something that works for me. It feels very natural to me. … I love doing it. I love helping people.”
