Trump Changes His Mind, Says GOP Leaders Aren’t Conspiring Against Him

Donald Trump, who has accused the Republican establishment of “rigging” the presidential primary process against him, backed off from the allegation on Tuesday.

According to Newsmax, CNN’s Anderson Cooper asked the real-estate tycoon whether GOP leaders “are actively working against” him. Trump replied: “I don’t see it. No, I don’t think so, I really don’t. It’s not like I have 15 miles of proof, but certainly they should want to have a vote of the people of Colorado.”

He was referring to the western state’s Republican Party having given Texas Sen. Ted Cruz all of its 34 delegates to the GOP national convention in July. Voters did not have an opportunity to indicate their preferences in a primary or caucus.

“The people of Colorado, I would have won,” Trump claimed. “I won so many of the votes. I mean, the voting has been phenomenal. That’s why I’ve won so many more states than Ted Cruz and (Ohio Gov. John) Kasich.”

Trump has previously criticized the Republican establishment for its allocation of delegates in Louisiana and other states. He recently lashed out at party leaders for reportedly conspiring to deny him the nomination even if he goes to the convention with the most delegates. There could be a contested convention if Trump fails to earn the 1,237 delegates necessary for a first-ballot victory.
