Trump Campaign Manager Charged With Battery After Touching Reporter

Trump has been criticized for promoting violence at his rallies. These kinds of attacks have taken their toll on his campaign. Now, his own campaign manager has been charged with battery; whether he's guilty or not, the case isn't going to help Trump win over voters.

Corey Lewandowski was charged Tuesday morning with one count of simple battery for 'intentionally' touching reporter Michelle Fields. Police released a video that captured the event.

In the video, Trump is seen trying to walk through a crowded room as reporters tried to keep up, firing off questions. Fields was right next to Trump. Lewandowski can be seen reaching out and pulling Fields back. Lewandowski then passes Fields and continues walking along-side Trump.

According to Fields, the incident left a bruise on her arm. Fields tweeted photos of the bruise. Another reporter who was next to Fields and witnessed the event backed up her complaint.

After being charged, Lewandowski turned himself in to police in Jupiter, Florida. He was given a court date for May 4, according to the Associated Press.

Trump headquarters deny the allegations. "Mr. Lewandowski is absolutely innocent of this charge. He will enter a plea of not guilty and looks forward to his day in court. He is completely confident that he will be exonerated," said a Trump spokesperson.

Fields was a reporter for Breitbart, but resigned after the site published a story that challenged her claims. A spokesperson for Breitbart accused Fields of lying.
