Trump Calls Report On His Russian Ties ‘Fake News’

Donald Trump claimed Wednesday that he has “nothing to do with Russia,” despite continued allegations that he has links to Vladimir Putin.

According to CNN, the directors of national intelligence, the CIA, the FBI and the NSA have informed President Obama that Trump campaign staffers communicated regularly with Russian operatives. The agencies previously accused Putin of ordering last year’s cyber attacks on the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager, John Podesta.

The Hill noted that in their latest report, the national-security officials claimed Russia has personal and financial information that could create problems for the incoming president. Trump pointed out on Twitter that “Russia said the unverified report paid for by political opponents is A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FABRICATION, UTTER NONSENSE.”

The president-elect called the allegations “very unfair,” adding: “Russia has never tried to use leverage over me. I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH RUSSIA - NO DEALS, NO LOANS, NO NOTHING!” In subsequent tweets, he wrote: “I win an election easily, a great movement is verified, and crooked opponents try to belittle our victory with FAKE NEWS. A sorry state! … Intelligence agencies should never have allowed this fake news to ‘leak’ into the public. One last shot at me. Are we living in Nazi Germany?”

The Russian government issued a statement reading: “The Kremlin has no compromising dossier on Mr. Trump. Such information is not consistent with reality and is nothing but an absolute fantasy.”
