Trump Calls Protesters ‘Thugs’ Hired By Democrats

Democrats are using “paid agitators” to disrupt Donald Trump’s campaign events, according to the apparent Republican presidential nominee.

Trump, during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, repeated his accusation that the protesters are “thugs.” On Thursday night, an anti-Trump crowd fought with the billionaire businessman’s supporters outside a rally in San Jose, Calif., the Wall Street Journal reported.

“They’re bad people, and I think they’re sent by the Democrats,” Trump declared. However, according to the Journal, he had no proof that the party’s officials or its candidates’ campaigns were responsible for the clashes. Some minor injuries resulted from people hitting and kicking each other. Trump called the scene inside the event venue a “love fest,” telling CNN: “When my people walked out, they’re peaceful people. My people didn’t start it.”

It was not the first time that violence has broken out at the New York City billionaire’s ralles. Police canceled an event in Chicago three months ago, when Trump’s fans battled with demonstrators. Following the latest incident, Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton proclaimed: “Trump has lowered the bar. And now, is it a surprise that people who don’t like him are stepping over that low bar? I don’t think it is. He needs to condemn all violence by everyone. I already have. I will continue to do so.”
