Trump ‘Very Proud’ Of Doubting Where Obama Was Born
Donald Trump not only refuses to apologize for leading the “birther” movement; he is bragging about it, Newsmax reported.
According to The Hill, the Republican presidential nominee said this week that he is “very proud” of having falsely alleged that President Obama was not born in the United States. “I’m the one that got him to put up his birth certificate,” Trump declared during an interview with NH1 News in New Hampshire.
Trump went on to repeat his widely debunked claim that his opponent in the Nov. 8 election also questioned Obama’s birthplace. “Hillary Clinton was unable to get there, and I will tell you she tried,” he said. “Everybody knows it happened. I would say that pretty much everybody agrees with me, but she tried and she was unable to do it and I tried and I was able to do it, so I’m very proud of that.”
Trump recently admitted that he had been wrong. His campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, told CBS News that the candidate “believes President Obama was born in the U.S.” She added: “This started with Hillary Clinton's campaign, number one. Number two, it was Donald Trump who put the issue to rest when he got President Obama to release his birth certificate years later; and number three, he said President Obama ‘was born in this country, period,’ and let’s move on to creating jobs, defeating radical Islam, rebuilding our inner cities.”
Michelle Obama, at a rally this week on behalf of Clinton, said Trump’s association with the birther movement “cannot be blamed on others or swept under the rug by an insincere sentence uttered at a press conference.”
