Trump: ‘I’m Running Against The Media’ Rather Than Clinton

Donald Trump argued on Saturday that news reporters, not Hillary Clinton, are his real foes in the race for the White House.

According to ABC News, the Republican presidential nominee told the crowd at a campaign event in Connecticut: “I’m not running against Clinton; I’m running against the crooked media. That’s what I’m running against. I’m not running against crooked Hillary.”

The Hill noted that Trump frequently criticizes reporters, calling their coverage “dishonest.” However, no candidate has received more free air time than the billionaire businessman. Throughout the campaign, the major television networks have broadcast his entire speeches.

Trump’s latest target is The New York Times, which recently quoted people calling him “sullen” because of national polls that indicate Clinton is widening her lead. “I’ll tell you, in particular, lately, we have a newspaper that’s failing badly, it's losing a lot of money, it's gonna be out of business very soon: The New York Times,” Trump said at the rally. Regarding the newspaper’s sources, he added: “I don’t think they have any names. They never call me. It’s going to hell.”

The nominee threatened to bar Times reporters from attending his campaign events. “Maybe what we’ll do, we’ll start taking their press credentials away from them,” he said. Trump has already banned Politico, The Washington Post, The Huffington Post and other news providers. He praised The Washington Post, claiming it has “been much nicer” to him lately.
