Trump’s Executive Order Is Devastating For Many - Do You Agree With His Decision?

Communities with a high rate of illegal immigrants are panicking now that President Donald Trump has rolled out his 'deportation force' efforts. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have begun conducting raids in metropolitan areas that have previously been a haven for undocumented aliens. Amnesty International USA is reaching out to ICE, Congress and the President for mercy.

The recent ICE efforts have focused largely on deporting illegal immigrants with criminal records. The efforts came under a presidential executive order entitled, "Enhancing Public Safety in the Interior of the United States."

The order has 'sanctuary cities' in an uproar. Those who support open borders and illegal immigrants being left alone have been flooding streets in protest. Illegal immigrants, on the other hand, have been retreating into the shadows in the very cities where they once felt safe. Some reports say illegal immigrants have been not going to work or sending their kids to school out of fear that federal authorities will swoop in and grab them.

"ICE immigration enforcement actions target specific individuals according to the laws passed by Congress," said a tweet posted by the department on Thursday.

Amnesty International USA is reaching out to the members of the Congressional Hispanic Congress and asking for a meeting with Thomas Homan, acting ICE leader. "These raids have struck fear in the hearts of the immigrant community as many fear that President Trump's promised 'deportation force' is now in full-swing," said a letter.

"Donald Trump has effectively created a way to deport individuals who have been accused, charged or convicted of anything from murder to jaywalking," charged Angelica Salas, executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA).

"Do not open the door to your home without seeing a warrant," warned one lawyer, in Spanish, to undocumented immigrants. "Do not drive a car with broken lights, and do not drive at all at night."
