Even the extremely leftist media outlet, Politico, which has done everything possible to support President Obama, is acknowledging the fact that Senator Tom Cotton won the battle regarding the letter he wrote to Iran and that was signed by 46 additional GOP senators.
The key to understanding this victory can be seen in how hard the White House is working to vilify Cotton on various Sunday talk shows. On Sunday, Secretary of State John Kerry was asked whether or not he would issue an apology to Iran for Cotton’s letter on Face the Nation. He responded that he would not be apologizing for the un-thought out and unconstitutional action by someone who had been on the Senate for just 60-some days.
Politico was working hard to make it seem as though cotton’s efforts were a complete failure by making the bipartisan issue into a partisan one. According to Senator Gary Peters, the letter is completely unacceptable. Senator Bill Nelson from Florida stated that it is a sad day in the U.S. when there are people who are attempting to kill the negations that are already underway.
Some of the GOP insiders stated that there were a number of democrats who said they still supported sanctions, despite the letter from Cotton. Corker’s bill, which will provide Congress with the power to undo any deal reached between Iran and Obama, will likely go to the floor in April.
