Ted Cruz Promises To Rip Up The Iran Nuclear Deal

On the Republican side, there has been much contention over the Obama administration's Iran nuclear deal. That was certainly made evident during the CNN-hosted, second Republican presidential debate. Sen. Ted Cruz was asked "How do you respond to Kasich's claim that anyone vowing to rip up the Iran nuclear deal is inexperienced?" Cruz responded “If I am elected president, on the very first day in office I will rip to shreds this catastrophic Iranian nuclear deal. If there’s anyone up here who would be bound by this catastrophic deal with Iran, they’re giving up their core responsibility as commander in chief.”

In addition, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) insinuated that he was in agreement with Cruz, something that contrasts with statements made by Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R). At the main-stage debate, Kasich said, “We don’t know what’s going to happen in 18 months. We are stronger when we work with the Western civilization — our friends in Europe. Just doing it on our own, I don’t think, is the right policy.” Bush added “It’s not a strategy to tear up an agreement. A strategy would be how do we confront Iran?”
