Ted Cruz Asserts That Donald Trump Would Obliterate the Second Amendment

On Sunday, Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz struck at Donald Trump and the Second Amendment.

On ABC's "This Week" he said, “And if Donald Trump becomes president, the Second Amendment will be written out of the Constitution, because it is abundantly clear that Donald Trump is not a conservative."

In addition, Cruz argued that Trump would not “invest the [political] capital to confirm a conservative” nominee on the court.

Cruz then praised the late Justice Antonin Scalia on a 2008 decision by stating, “Justice Scalia, one of his biggest opinions was the Heller decision. It was 5-4 upholding the individual right to keep and bear arms. If an additional liberal justice goes to the court, we’re one justice away from the Second Amendment being written out."
