Steve Bannon Has A Not-So-Subtle Message For Ivanka Trump

Steve Bannon, the former White House strategist that has returned to his roots at the website Breitbart, is one of the more controversial political figures out there these days. Just the mention of Bannon’s name can spark a reaction, and he also knows how to get one rather easily. Bannon is the type that will stick to his guns no matter what, and he proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt while campaigning for Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, who was basically Bannon’s hand-picked choice to take over the seat that was vacated when Jeff Sessions accepted the post of Attorney General.

Alas, there were some serious chinks in the armor for Moore, as he was hit with a number of allegations that he was a sexual predator with a proclivity for underage girls. Moore denied the charges vehemently, but the damage was done. Nonetheless, Bannon continued to pound the drum for him. While it was pretty clear to most observers that this was a no-win situation for Moore or the Republican party, someone forgot to tell Bannon about that. As the Daily Mail shares, Bannon had plenty to say while out on the stump for him to boot.

“Mitch McConnell and Senator Shelby, and Condi Rice and all that, Little Bobby Corker, all the establishment out there, all that establishment every day, that doesn't have Trump's back at all,” Bannon said during one appearance. “There's a special place in hell for Republicans who should know better.”

Bannon’s choice of phrasing was taken as a clear shot across the bough against Ivanka Trump, who offered up a brief and terse comment when asked about Moore.

“There’s a special place in hell for in hell for people who prey on children,” she said.

There have been plenty of stories about behind the scenes drama between Bannon and White House adviser Jared Kushner, and there’s a school of thought that suggests that’s what ultimately led to Bannon returning to Breitbart. It’s been noted that the site has taken plenty of shots at Ivanka and Jared since he returned, so there may, in fact, be something to see there.

In any event, Bannon hit the stump pretty hard in support of Moore, and he staked a lot of his personal political capital on proving the establishment wrong.

“This should be an absolute blow-out except for what they did to Judge Moore. They couldn't stand being beaten in the first round,” Bannon said at one rally. “They're trying to shut you up,”

The race between Moore and Democratic candidate Doug Jones went down to the wire, and Jones won by a razor-thin margin. This simple race for an Alabama Senate seat is one for the record books, as it attracted more interest than any special election in recent memory. It’s pretty tough to see how Bannon comes out of this one unscathed, and he’s obviously going to want to take a serious look at what went wrong here. It’s not hyperbole to suggest that his future as a political force is now in serious doubt, and it’ll be interesting to see how he responds.
