Speaker Boehner Will Set Up New Sanctions If Iran Talks Fail

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) declared that if the Obama administration fails in its deal with Iran's nuclear program that he would set out to impose fresh sanctions against the country.

Boehner told CNN's "State of the Union," "The sanctions are going to come, and they're going to come quick." When asked just how quickly he would go about bringing on additional sanctions, Boehner said "very, very, very quickly. Frankly, we should have kept the sanctions in place so that we could have gotten to a real agreement."

Boehner also said that he still has "serious doubts" regarding the progress of current negotiations. As the details are quite murky, many fear that sanctions will be slowed down giving Iran the ability to eventually develop a nuclear weapon.

Right now, a bipartisan group of lawmakers in the Senate are weighing a bill that gives Congress input on any deal the Obama administration reaches. Lawmakers are holding on to the bill until March 31, the self-imposed deadline for the Obama Administration to set an outline for Iran's nuclear program.
