Sessions Calls For Investigation On Stunning Allegations Levelled Against Obama Administration

As former President Barack Obama left office, he proudly claimed that his entire tenure in office had been completely scandal free. Critics were quick to pounce and refresh his memory on a number of things that came up during his eight years in the Oval Office, and it looks like we have another one to add to that list. A bombshell report from Politico notes that the Obama administration dropped prosecutions of the terror group Hezbollah, and that was done solely to boost the chances that the nuclear deal with Iran would go through.

The Iran deal was already a head-scratcher to begin with, and it’s one that President Donald Trump has called out a number of times as an epically poor deal. This new information makes the deal all the more curious, as it calls into questions the actual motivations of the deal.

Specifically, why on earth would the US decide to turn a blind eye to a terror group that’s been on the radar for some time? By extension, why was it deemed to be so important for Iran to become a nuclear power.

As the Blaze shares, we may actually find out even more details. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is calling for a review of the claims made in the report.

“Operations designed to investigate and prosecute terrorist organizations that are also fueling that drug crisis must be paramount in this administration. While I am hopeful that there were no barriers constructed by the last administration to allowing DEA agents to fully bring all appropriate cases under Project Cassandra, this is a significant issue for the protection of Americans,” he said. “We will review these matters and give full support to investigations of violent drug trafficking organizations.”

Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) was quick to praise Sessions for attempting to get to the bottom of what looks to be a gigantic mess.

“I’m encouraged that the Justice Department recognizes that this is important and I hope that they will swiftly provide answers,” he said. “Terrorists don’t get a pass to exploit drug addiction here at home and use American dollars to fund their global violence.”

We’ll have to wait and see how this one ultimately shakes out, but it has the potential to be one of the more explosive political investigations in recent times. The mainstream press is paying scant attention to the story thus far, but it may get to the point that they’ll have no choice but to pay even more attention to it. We’re talking about a former sitting president of the United States - one that claims to be scandal-free, mind you - being embroiled in a story that you would only expect to see in a work of fiction.

Can you imagine how much coverage this story would be receiving if the name Obama was switched out with Trump? There’s a very real chance that social media would be overloaded with meltdowns, and the story would be receiving round the clock coverage from the mainstream outlets.

It’s no secret that the press covered Obama with different lenses than those that are used on Trump, but this borders on the ridiculous. Trust in media continues to decline among average American voters, and the press would be awfully wise to take that more seriously.
