Senate Republicans Say Obama's ISIS Strategy Is Not Working

After the bad news broke that ISIS captured Ramadi, Senate Republicans urged President Obama to modify his strategy to defeat the terrorist group. From the Senate floor, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned “If you don’t change your strategy... then this country is very likely to get attacked in another 9/11 fashion." Graham also said that it would be a "huge mistake" for Obama not to take action now. On Wednesday, The Wall Street Journal reported that the president intends to speed up training and equipping of Sunni tribal fighters to help push back the gains made by ISIS.

Yet, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters on Wednesday that there is “no formal strategy review that is underway." In addition, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) said the administration is experiencing “paralysis by analysis.” Cornyn also said “I hope this is a wake-up call to the Obama administration and that they will provide the Congress and the American people and our troops a clear path forward to defeat ISIL and to rid the world of this terror army." Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) added to the warnings by saying “[Ramadi] should lead our nation’s leaders to reconsider an indecisive and a total lack of strategy that has done little to roll back ISIL."
