Rove Tells Trump To Stop Slamming Republicans

Donald Trump needs to focus on criticizing Hillary Clinton, rather than picking fights with Republicans, according to veteran GOP political operative Karl Rove.

Newsmax reported that the chief of staff for President George W. Bush said the presidential nominee should have refrained from responding to a letter signed by 50 former Republican national-security experts, who proclaimed that they will not vote for Trump because he is unprepared to be commander in chief.

Rove, referring to the tax proposals Trump announced this week, said on Fox News: “Yesterday, he had a good speech on the economy. He could build on that, get it into an argument with Hillary Clinton. It's best for him not to continue to get into arguments with fellow Republicans.”

The political adviser, who is an analyst for Fox News, called on Trump to stop criticizing Republicans who backed the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003. Rove pointed out that many party leaders and activists still think the military action was the “right thing to do.”

“Here is the deal: Do you want to stay stuck in an argument with fellow Republicans or have an argument with a Democrat you can win?” Rove asked. He said Trump’s supporters “are for him; they’re not against other people.” Rove explained: “If you said to people, ‘do you oppose the people who stood with Bush on the Iraq War?’ I bet most of those people would say, 'no, no. I like what Donald Trump says he is going to do, not criticism of what Republicans have done in the past.’”
