Romney Worried About ‘Extreme’ Politicians

Mitt Romney is upset that radicals are gaining power in Washington, D.C., at the expense of mainstream politicians, Breitbart News reported.

The 2012 Republican presidential nominee complained during a podcast of “The Axe Files” that the influence of “insurgents” is growing. He told show host David Axelrod, a Democrat: “Extremes within our respective parties are having a louder and louder voice, and demanding more attention.”

Romney cited a “change in the world of media,” explaining: “There was a time when we all got the news with the same facts, if you will. We had three networks we watched for the evening news. Most of us got newspapers. Everybody in the middle class got a newspaper, so we got the same facts whether we agreed or not with them.”

These days, voters “get their news on the web” and “tend to read those things which they agree with,” Romney noted. He said Americans are no longer “seeing the other side,” partly because they are “not even getting the same facts.”

The former Massachusetts governor blamed liberal and conservative “commentators … who are hyperbolic in expressing their views on issues” for helping to polarize the public. “I think that divisiveness is one of the things that has led to Washington having such a hard time getting things done,” he said.
