Rich Dad Takes Young Son to See a Shack in the Community, Shocked by His Reaction

Sometimes it takes a view of the world through the eyes of an innocent child to open up our hearts to what’s really important and true. According to Little Things, that what one father did in order to gain a new perspective on what wealth and poverty really look like.

The way the story goes is that a rich father took his son on a trip so that his son could learn what it was like to be poor. The father and sent spent a few days and nights on the farm of what would generally be considered as a poor family.

When the father and son returned from the trip, the son explained that he thought the trip was great and told his dad what had learned about what being poor is like.

“I saw that we have one dog and they had four,” he said. “We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.”

The boy explained to his father that he learned just how poor he and his father really were. The boy’s father was shocked and learned how wealth and poverty are very different from different perspectives.
