Rev. Franklin Graham Calls for More Christians to Enter Political Life

The Rev. Franklin Graham spoke to a crowd of 4,500 in Atlanta on Wednesday stating, "I don't think we're going to make it to another election cycle if we don't get God's voice back in the political arena. I want to get Christians to run for office at every level. The Christian voice needs to be heard."

The son of legendary evangelist Billy Graham is currently on a 50-state tour called "Decision America Tour."

According to CNN, it has three objectives: calling for prayer, urging people to vote as part of their Christian and civic duty, and getting people to look at elections spiritually. Graham then called out the sins of America such as abortion, pride, materialism, same-sex marriage, racism and Hollywood's glorification of sex and violence. In addition, Graham quoted his father from 1952:

"I feel that we're going to have to meet our political obligations as Christians and make our voice known if America is to be preserved with the type of Christian heritage which has given us the liberties we now enjoy. For unless America turns back to God, repents of its sin, and experiences a spiritual revival, we will fail as a nation."

On the Billy Graham website, Franklin Graham wrote, "At 62 years of age, I’ve lived long enough to learn that neither the Democrats nor the Republicans can turn this country around; no political party or politician is the answer. The only hope for this country is Almighty God and His Son Jesus Christ."
