Report: Bill And Hillary 'Haven't Spoken For Months'

Trouble in paradise is never a welcome state of affairs, but the vast majority of us are fortunate enough to be able to deal with our various trials and tribulations well out of the public eye. That’s simply not the case for famous folks, as the gossip mills are always churning with the latest gossip and salacious tidbit. If it’s a couple that has had some troubles in the past, then it simply never stops. There tends to be a prevailing narrative of imminent doom that’s tough to shake, and observers will look for any signs of trouble as confirmation of that.

As the Daily Mail shares, that scenario is playing out yet again with one of the nation’s former First Couple’s. Bill and Hillary Clinton have had their share of strained relations through the years, and reports are making the rounds that they are currently experiencing some choppy seas reminiscent of the classic film ‘A Perfect Storm.’ It seems that Bill wasn’t too pleased with how his wife’s book, ‘What Happened,’ turned out, and he offered up some suggestions for improvement. Those suggestions are said to have been summarily dismissed.

“He told her the book made her look bewildered, angry and confused, and that those were poor qualities in a person who aspired to be a world leader,” a source explained to PageSix. “He hated the title because calling it 'What Happened' would only make people say, 'You lost.' He urged her to postpone the pub date and rewrite the book, but she yelled at him and said: 'The book is finished and that’s how it’s going to be published.'”

Well now. There may be a bit of a fire behind all of that smoke, as this comes on heels of reports that Bill was quite frustrated with how his wife’s campaign was run. Once again, his suggestions were completely brushed off. Assuming those reports are true, that was obviously an epic mistake. For all of his shortcomings, the former president is a solid political mind that should have been constantly tapped for insight, being that he had successfully been elected to the highest office in the land twice.

As for how Hillary has come across in the book and in the aftermath of its release, we need to look no further than some recent comments she offered up to ‘Stylist’ magazine.

“I have a great sense of responsibility, for not winning, for letting people down. Even more so when you consider who my opponent was. If I had run against someone whom I disagreed with politically, but believed was up to the job, of course I would have been disappointed,” she said. “But being in a position where I ended up losing to someone who I don't think is qualified or temperamentally ready to be president was a very deep personal regret.”

If you read between the lines there and in the countless number of appearances she has made to promote her book, a constant theme emerges: It’s all about her, how it affects her, and how she was wronged along the way. There’s zero internal reflection to account for her missteps, and the public ones she made are dismissed as if someone is out to get her. We’re not in the psychology thesis business, but an aspiring student has a wealth of ideas for a paper by taking a gander at how she’s carrying herself.

As for the love that may be on the rocks, we sincerely hope the couple can get past their troubles and enjoy their twilight years - preferably out of the public eye.
