This Is The Reason Elizabeth Warren Threatened Impeachment Of Donald Trump

Sen. Elizabeth Warren is threatening Donald Trump that he could be impeached if he refuses to sell off his business interests before he is sworn in as president on Jan. 20.

According to the Daily Mail, the Massachusetts lawmaker announced Thursday that she and several other Democrats will introduce legislation next month requiring the president-elect to divest his financial holdings to prevent conflicts of interest for his administration’s foreign and domestic policies.

“Placing assets in a true blind trust has been the standard for previous presidents,” Warren tweeted. “Our bill makes clear we expect Trump to do the same.” The legislation faces major hurdles: the Republican majorities in House and Senate, as well as an incoming GOP president.

The Daily Mail reported that protesters representing Public Citizen, Common Cause and other groups that promote political transparency delivered a petition with more than 400,000 signatures to Trump Tower on Thursday, demanding that the president-elect divest.

Trump’s properties include hotels, resorts, golf courses and homes in many countries. The real-estate tycoon has struck numerous business deals with foreign leaders, which his critics warn could present conflicts. “A second-grader could see that the only solution to this problem is for President-elect Trump to sell off the family business, yet there is no sign he intends to do this,” said Robert Weissman, Public Citizen’s president.
