President Trump Moving Forward On The U.S. - Mexico Border Wall

President Trump planned to sign an executive order on Wednesday, directing federal funding to the construction of a wall along parts of the Mexican border, the Daily Mail reported.

“Big day planned on NATIONAL SECURITY tomorrow,” the new commander-in-chief tweeted Tuesday. “Among many other things, we will build the wall!” During last year’s race for the White House, Trump made the border barrier one of his top campaign promises. He also pledged to “make Mexico pay for it.”

The administration reportedly is preparing several other possible executive orders regarding illegal immigration. One of the actions would temporarily turn away Muslims who try to enter the United States from “terror-prone” nations such as Syria, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Sudan and Somalia.

Other potential Trump orders within the next few days would impose sanctions on “sanctuary cities” that tell their police departments to ignore U.S. immigration laws; end the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which grants work permits to immigrants who came as children; and freeze the acceptance of all international refugees for four months, or until authorities can guarantee their immigrant-screening process identifies terrorists posing as refugees. The order is likely to provide exceptions for Christians coming from Muslim countries.

Trump has frequently blasted Obama’s policy of accepting thousands of refugees from war-torn Syria. The anticipated executive order could effectively end the policy.
