President Bush Criticizes Obama's Handling Of The Middle East

On April 25, former President George W. Bush spoke to a crowd of 700 Republican Jewish Coalition supporters at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. Bush spoke out against President Barack Obama for his handling of foreign policy issues, including the nuclear deal with Iran and the increasing threat of the Islamic State group. Bush argued that Obama's desire to lift sanctions on Iran as part of nuclear negotiations with the guarantee that they could be reinstated at any moment was unrealistic and not doable. Bush also said “You think the Middle East is chaotic now? Imagine what it looks like for our grandchildren. That’s how Americans should view the deal.”

Bush went on to criticize Obama for not following through on his promise of degrading and destroying the Islamic State group. The former president said, “In order to be an effective president ... when you say something you have to mean it. You gotta kill em. When the plan wasn’t working in Iraq, we changed." In addition, Bush shared his views on presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said that it was a "strategic blunder" for Obama to pull troops out of Iraq. With regard to his brother Jeb Bush's potential presidential campaign, Bush told the crowd that he feared the Bush name could be used against Jeb because Americans "don't like dynasties."
