Poll Shows George Bush is More Popular Than President Obama

A majority of Americans now have a favorable view of former President George W. Bush, while fewer than half of them feel that way about President Obama, according to the latest poll by CNN and ORC International.

Fifty-two percent of those who responded to the survey gave Bush a positive rating. Forty-three percent said they view him unfavorably. Forty-nine percent rated Obama favorably, while the same percentage gave him a negative score.

The Hill reported that Obama’s ratings have slipped since the last CNN poll, conducted in March, when 52 percent viewed him positively and 46 percent gave him an unfavorable rating.

The polling shows that Bush’s reputation has improved greatly since he left office in 2009. Then, fewer than one-third of surveyed voters said they viewed him favorably. It was one of the lowest scores any president has received. By last year, the numbers had improved to 46 percent favorability and 51 percent unfavorability. Now, for the first time, Bush’s positive rating has exceeded 50 percent.

CNN reported that the former president is doing better with a number of voter groups. His support among men has increased 11 percent while 10 percent more Republicans give him a positive score.
