Piers Morgan Warns President Trump Of World 'Catastrophe' If He Attacks North Korea

British journalist and television personality Piers Morgan wrote a lengthy plea to American President Donald Trump in an editorial published on The Daily Mail Online. The journalist urges the president to keep his cool in light of the recent threats from North Korea. Piers warns Trump that attacking North Korea now would mean 'catastrophe' for the whole world.

On July 4, while Americans were busy with backyard barbecues and firework shows celebrating our nation's Independence Day, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un launched an intercontinental ballistic missile. The missile demonstrates that the South Asian nation now has the capability to strike the U.S. mainland.

Jong-Un called it a 'gift for American bastards on July 4'. Jong-Un has ignored all warnings and continues to make his country a nuclear power.

Piers has no affection for North Korean leader, Kim Jong-Un, who he says is a 'very real and dangerous threat'. The journalist writes, "Kim Jong-Un is a repulsive excuse for a human being; a megalomaniac tyrant with a penchant for torture, executions and systematic abuse of his people."

Even with that, Morgan urges Mr. Trump to back down and not be rash, because he may be risking an all-out war with the unstable North Korean leader who has a particular disdain for the U.S.

In January, Trump taunted in tweets that North Korea would never be able to create the missile at all. Now, the Commander-in-chief had to address North Korea's success, which he did in a press conference in Poland on Thursday.

"They are behaving in a very, very dangerous manner and something will have to be done about," Trump said. "I have pretty severe things that we’re thinking about. That doesn’t mean we’ll do them."

"One of those ‘severe things’ doubtless includes a US military strike against Jong-un," said Morgan. "But that is simply not an option. Not unless America wants to risk all-out war. Jong-un wouldn’t think twice about martyring vast swathes of his massive million-strong military if he had to."

Morgan reminds Trump that Jong-Un has no regard for life, and even poisoned his own brother to death recently. "If America attacked, his gigantically grotesque ego wouldn’t allow him to do nothing. He would feel compelled to retaliate, probably by attacking South Korea. Then all hell would break loose."

Morgan, who has been a supporter of President Trump, says the president 'needs to hold his nerve, hold his trigger, and squeeze Jong-un to financial death'.

"This won’t come naturally to a man who usually responds to mockery and threats with impulsive rage," Morgan adds, though he says Trump's response to foreign threats thus far has impressed him. Morgan goes on to list some actions the president might consider, such as ramping up America's naval presence near the Korean peninsula, accelerating secret weapons-sabotaging programs and pursuing 'draconian global sanctions' against Jong-Un.

Morgan quotes Nikki Haley, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. "Countries that are allowing, even encouraging trade with North Korea... also would like to maintain their trade with the United States. That’s not going to happen."

China, in particular, has increased trade with North Korea recently and sells weapons to Jong-Un. This must stop, and Trump must convince President Xi Jinping to take a stand.

"Many see Donald Trump as an unpredictable, dangerous man who is only one mad impulsive moment away from sparking nuclear meltdown," says Morgan. "I don’t. I see Kim Jong-un as that person. This is President Trump’s chance to prove, as he did with the Syria chemical weapons attack, that he can be a sensible and strategic world leader, and avert a crisis that could propel America and the world into catastrophe."

"I strongly urge him to take it," Morgan concludes.
