Pence: Repealing Obamacare Is Our ‘First Order Of Business’

Before addressing any other national priorities, Donald Trump will concentrate on fulfilling his campaign promise to destroy President Obama’s health-care law, according to Mike Pence.

Breitbart News reported that the vice president-elect spoke to reporters Wednesday morning during his trip to Capitol Hill, where he sat down with congressional Republicans to plot their course on the controversial issue. At the same time, Obama was calling on lawmakers to save his Affordable Care Act, which provides health-insurance subsidies to about 25 million people.

“First order of business is to repeal and replace Obamacare,” Pence said. “It needs to be done, not just as a promise kept, but because in the course of this election, the American people had a choice and what appeared to many as against all odds … our president-elect took his case to the American people to repeal and replace Obamacare.”

Pence pointed out that insurance premiums for ACA recipients have increased about 25 percent in the past year. He said voters in the presidential election were demanding a “better future for health care in this country.”

“Our message is very simple,” the vice president-elect added. “We are 16 days away from the end of business as usual in Washington, D.C.” He vowed that the incoming administration will be “in the promise-keeping business.”
