Palin Calls on GOP ‘Establishment’ to Respect Evangelicals

Sarah Palin warned Friday that the Republican Party needs to reach out to religious conservatives if its presidential nominee is to win next year’s election.

“The GOP machine, the establishment, they better not think that they are holier-than-thou and marginalize evangelicals and then create disincentives for … us to want to get out there and be involved in campaigns and to vote,” the former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice-presidential candidate told Newsmax TV.

“We make a difference in the political arena by exercising that sacred right that we have to vote, to elect … godly leaders who will reflect our values, the Judeo-Christian foundation of our nation,” Palin said. “When it comes to the establishment, the GOP kind of machine that seems to want to run everything, they need to not marginalize evangelicals and those who really rely on faith and believe so strongly in those time-tested truths that are in scripture.”

She added: “People are looking for solid answers on how we can deal with these political challenges facing us, personal challenges facing us, and the only answer really is in scripture. I want to let people know that there is a guideline for us. I want to point people to the right verse and the scripture to deal with our individual issues.”
