The Obamas Were Spotted Returning Home From Vacation - But Where Was Sasha? (Photos)

After their post-White House vacation, former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama returned to Washington D.C. and headed for their new luxurious rental home. The neighborhood gave the famous couple a warm welcome.

After the inauguration of Donald Trump, Mr. and Mrs. Obama seemed to fly off into the sunset. The couple took a vacation that started with some golf in Palm Springs, California and ended with a stay on friend Richard Branson's private island in the British Virgin Islands. They left the kids behind and took sometime just for themselves.

On Thursday, after some much needed rest and relaxation, the Obamas headed for their new home sweet home. The couple are renting a $4.3 million D.C. luxury home in the elite Kalorama neighborhood. They're planning to stay in Washington until youngest daughter Sasha finishes school.

While they were in the White House, renovations on the 9-bedroom mansion got underway to ensure it would be ready for them. Renovations included adding an office for each, and building a wall around the property. The home is just two blocks from Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump's new residence.

The couple were smiling and looking very relaxed when they got off the jet that flew them in from the Virgin Islands. They were dressed casually for a change — Mr. Obama with his top shirt buttons undone and no tie or jacket, Mrs. Obama in a straw hat and sandals. A motorcade escorted them to their residence.

Neighbors excited about the former First Family moving in welcomed them with lawn signs. The Democrat blue signs read 'Welcome Home', with the 'o' in the word 'home' being President Obama's campaign logo.

The Obamas might be just a 15-minute drive from their previous residence on Pennsylvania Avenue, but the White House might as well be a million miles away. Everyone is now wondering what will be next for one of the most powerful couples in D.C.
