Obama Hopes To ‘Coach’ Next Generation Of Democratic Leaders

President Obama is about to have a whole lot more free time on his hands, but he’s pretty clear on how he would like to spend at least some of it. As Time reports, he hopes to help ‘coach’ the next generation of democratic leaders.

The president touched on the role he would like to play in the world of politics moving forward as part of his year-end interview with NPR.

“What I am interested in is just developing a whole new generation of talent. And making sure that whatever resources, credibility, spotlight that I can bring to help them rise up. That’s something that I think I can do well, I think Michelle can do well,” he said.

Additionally, Obama feels that the problem with this year’s election wasn’t necessarily the message from his party, but rather the strategy behind delivering it for this go round.

“I don’t think there’s something wrong with the core argument that the Democratic Party has made for years,” he said.

We’ll have to wait and see how that plays out in the coming years, but if in fact the problem is with how the message is being delivered, there’s little doubt a gifted speaker such as Obama can provide plenty of coaching up in that regard.
