A New Strategy - Olbermann Encourages "The Resistance" To Help Trump Self-Destruct

For those who were wondering whatever happened to Keith Olbermann, the former MSNBC and ESPN personality is still out there doing his thing, albeit on a much smaller platform. His current contribution to society revolves around posting videos for something known as ‘The Resistance’ for GQ magazine. Those that are familiar with Olbermann’s schtick from his MSNBC days can rest assured, as he’s just as smug as ever.

As the Huffington Post shares, one of Olbermann’s latest videos amounts to a call to action. Since his rants are geared towards the anti-Trump crowd, you won’t be surprised to learn that he’s calling for ‘The Resistance’ to help take Trump down.

“The President of the United States is self-destructing,” Olbermann said. “We need to give him all the help we can in his task.”

What a pleasant and homey thought. Let’s openly hope for the sitting president to implode. Even better, let’s see what we can do about pushing that along. To Olbermann’s credit, he noted that this was an unusual thought - but he would quickly fall back off the rails by attempting to justify his comments.

“Ordinarily, the last thing anyone in America would want is a leader bent on destroying himself and ending his presidency,” he continued. “But the threat to our freedoms, our heritage, our way of life - our lives themselves - is so overwhelming and unprecedented that putting aside the almost immeasurable anger and resentment that this childish, selfish, petulant man engenders.”

Alright. So Olbermann is no fan of Trump. Got it. He’s also concerned that his politics will prove to be harmful for our nation as a whole. Got that also. As opposed to eloquently expressing his opposition to Trump and his policies, Olbermann decided to blast out a confusing word salad that was chock full of adjectives to insult the commander-in-chief. Got that as well.

Once again, in fairness to Olbermann, his overall narrative has been a pretty popular one that’s emanated from our left-leaning friends. That narrative suggests that Trump is ‘mentally unstable’ and somewhat ‘unhinged.’ Those are some pretty damning accusations to throw at a sitting president, but those that buy into that theory point to Trump’s social media habits and other reports for confirmation.

“I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt,” read one recent tweet.

One recent report from unnamed and unconfirmed sources claims that Trump spends an inordinate amount of time “yelling at television sets in the White House.”

On the tweet front, Trump continues to do himself no favors by posting incessantly on social media. Bad look for a sitting president? Absolutely. Evidence of him being unhinged? Unlikely. If posting too much on social media is a clear sign of being unhinged, then there are gaggles of unhinged people out there. Perhaps there are, but we prefer to think of it as there are plenty of people out there that are hooked on posting stuff.

For the report on him being angered while watching television, there are two important points to take away. First, Trump is ripped to shreds on a daily basis by the various mainstream media outlets. That will inevitably get under anyone’s skin. Second, how many reports from unnamed and unconfirmed sources about Trump or his administration have been proven to be completely baseless? The answer is an alarming amount of them, so take unconfirmed reports with a gigantic grain of salt.

As for Olbermann, he’s an intelligent and talented man that leans way too hard on inflammatory remarks. A man that has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success leading something known as ‘The Resistance’ is as insane as it sounds.
