New Calls For Investigating Hillary And Clinton Foundation

Republicans are demanding another investigation of Hillary Clinton.

Fox News reported that Attorney General Jeff Sessions is under pressure to appoint a special counsel to look into the former secretary of state’s alleged crimes. Some GOP leaders also are calling for probes of the Clinton Foundation and Fusion GPS, the firm that compiled much of the incriminating information about President Trump that ended up in a dossier a former British spy compiled.

In addition, Clinton’s critics want the government to determine whether she made a pay-for-play deal with the Russians. While she was heading the State Department, the Obama administration approved the sale of controlling interest in the Canadian company Uranium One to the Kremlin’s nuclear-energy agency. The deal gave Russia control of mines in Wyoming and Utah that reportedly represent 20 percent of the United States’ uranium-production capacity.

“It’s time for Jeff Sessions to name a special counsel and get answers for the American people,” Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, proclaimed in an op-ed for FoxNews.com. “If not, he should step down.” Newt Gingrich, a former speaker of the House and Fox News analyst, agreed. He accused Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, of unethical and illegal acts. “I think that she’s had a 40-year history of breaking the law, enriching herself and lying about it,” the Georgia Republican said.

Gingrich alleged that the former secretary of state took advantage of insider trading information to rake in almost $100,000 in less than a year when she traded cattle futures and other commodities about 40 years ago. He also suggested that the Clintons have exploited their family’s charitable foundation to expand their personal fortunes.

“We certainly owe the American people the truth,” Gingrich said. “This is a pretty deep pool of corruption, and it needs to be exposed so the country understands we’re not going to tolerate that kind of behavior in our public officials. … We’ll have to wait and see what Attorney General Sessions decides. I think he’ll make an honest decision based on his reading of the law.”

CNN reported that Sessions has ordered Justice Department officials to “evaluate” allegations of wrongdoing concerning the foundation and Uranium One. Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd told Rep. Bob Goodlatte, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, that federal prosecutors will decide whether “any matters not currently under investigation should be opened, whether any matters currently under investigation require further resources, or whether any merit the appointment of a special counsel.”

President Trump has long advocated more scrutiny of Clinton. At many of his campaign rallies during the 2016 race, he led his supporters in chanting “Lock Her Up!” Trump tweeted last week: “Everybody is asking why the Justice Department (and FBI) isn’t looking into all of the dishonesty going on with Crooked Hillary & the Dems. New Donna B book says she paid for and stole the Dem Primary. What about the deleted E-mails, Uranium, Podesta, the Server, plus, plus. People are angry. At some point the Justice Department, and the FBI, must do what is right and proper. The American public deserves it!”
