New Book Blows Lid Off Lengths Clinton Would Go To For Dalliances With Mistresses

There have long been plenty of whispers that former President Bill Clinton is a notorious womanizer, and there have been plenty of scandals littered throughout his past that have referenced them. In light of the tidal wave of stories regarding inappropriate behavior from men in positions of power, additional attention has been paid to the lens that Clinton has always been seen through. An explosive new look may lead to even more attention being paid to them.

As the Daily Mail shares, the new book is entitled ‘Secrets of the Secret Service: The History and Uncertain Future of the US Secret Service,’ and author Gary Byrne, a former Secret Service officer, outlines the great lengths that Clinton would take to get out of the White House, presumably for dalliances with mistresses.

“You better get me some help here. I just caught Bruce Lindsey trying to drive out with the President with a raincoat over his head,” he wrote.

Byrne was recalling a story from a uniformed officer that had stopped Lindsey’s vehicle at the gate. The Secret Service was able to take care of things from that point, but Byrne notes that the risky behavior of the former president could’ve not only put the life of himself and the state of the country at risk, but he could’ve also placed those that are tasked with protecting him in peril.

While Byrne can’t say for certain if Clinton was in fact on his way to meet up with a mistress when he was busted this time around, he casually notes that the former POTUS would often meet with 'well known and less well known mistresses' throughout the nation’s capital. To keep things under wraps, Clinton would denote the trips as 'Off The Record,' which is typically reserved for things such as visits with the families of dead servicemen. Byrne notes that this didn’t go over well with those tasked with protecting him.

“They were dejected, disappointed, bewildered and shocked. They tried to remain diplomatic but they had to be adamant with Bruce Lindsey that this would never happen again,” he wrote.

Beyond being off-put by Clinton’s dalliances and liberal interpretation of what is appropriate behavior for a sitting president, Byrne notes that there were some serious concerns among agents that they would become ensnared in some rather hairy situations. In addition to Clinton’s proclivity for messing around with other women, there have always been rumblings that things weren’t always on the up and up in terms of behind-the-scenes dealings for him or his wife, former First Lady and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“The view from the front lines, however, was that something, somehow, was bound to ensnare them. It was simply a matter of the right scandal,” Byrne wrote.

Byrne also notes that Secret Service leadership seemed to think that the Clinton’s were ‘invincible,’ especially in light of the ‘Chinagate’ campaign finance scandal that was essentially swept under the carpet. Reports indicate that agents were essentially forced to collude with the Clinton’s and completely disregard the fact that Chinese officials would appear with the White House with brown paper bags intended for the First Couple. Sounds like a fascinating read, and it will be interesting to see if it leads to any more light being shone on the Clintons.
